Am Playing: Diablo III Reaper of Souls
I’m not the greatest at self restraint. How many times have I already broken my no new games rule this year? Why not add another game to that list, sure. I can rationalize it by saying it’s not a brand new game, it’s an EXPANSION pack, gosh. But realistically, I just spent $30 bucks on Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls so that I could play a crusader and see some more story (see all previous entries, pretty much, for how much I love the way that Blizzard handles stories).
ANYWAY, of course I did it, and of course I started playing on normal (it suggests it for folks who haven’t played in a few months!) and of course I was feeling very smug about playing on normal and it being very easy until I remembered that you can’t just stand still and soak damage in Diablo the way you might in, say, WoW. My near death was an embarrassing moment; I felt a bit like little Red in Karazhan as I desperately tried to kite around pillars and not die. Pro gamer, I am definitely not.
Run away, little girl.
I don’t think it’s worth recording all my gameplay here because pretty much everyone who is interested has already seen the beginning of Diablo, so I’ll wait till I get through the rest of the story to start recording again. But since I had already done this much…
Anywho, Diablo is a pretty fun game. It always has been. I just don’t have it in me anymore to play the same acts over and over again — dungeon crawlers are fine but upping the difficulty and loot without changing the story doesn’t rev my engines. I hear things have changed, so we’ll see how the replay value is, but I can’t resist more story.
